The aim of the Public Issues Committee is to speak on behalf of the Auckland Graduate Women as an effective advocate and voice for women on public issues.
We see the role of the Public Issues Committee being:
- To consider and, where appropriate, take a stand on important public issues as they arise
- To consider and respond to remits referred by NZFGW, the National Council of Women or other organisations, and to advise our delegates on issues and voting so that our voice is heard. This is an opportunity to use our collective education as together we can give an educated voice back to the community.
- To receive feedback and information from our delegates who attend these important forums. Information is shared through our meetings and newsletters.
- To encourage members to participate in advocacy, workshops and taskforces where their skills and professional interests can assist in advancing debates and finding solutions to public issues. This is a clearing house for ideas and to broaden our views.
We meet monthly, informally, and welcome participation by members and others with expertise or similar interests who are willing to contribute.
Members assist with, or take responsibility for the preparation of submissions when these are needed. This is an opportunity to think, talk and consider the immediate voice that should be heard from the voice of women. If you are unable to attend the meetings we still want to recognise your voice. We are happy to share your opinions and expertise through emails and our newsletter.
