The Auckland Branch of the NZ Federation of Graduate Women
We are part of an organisation that is more than 80 years old. Many graduates will remember the willing volunteers who fitted them with their academic dress for graduation. We have moved on now and academic dress hire is professionally managed, although it still provides the funds which form the basis of the many Awards and scholarships administered by the Auckland branch members for The Kate Edger Educational Charitable Trust.
Auckland Graduate Women is run by an Executive Committee, which co-ordinates the activities of the branch.
The following groups and/or committees meet regularly
Branch social meeting - monthly in the evenings, 4th Wednesday of the month with a stimulating speaker, presentation of awards, debate, entertainment.. .Please refer to the Meetings Schedule for upcoming events
VIVA group - daytime meeting, the 3rd Thursday of the month, with guest speaker discussions and networking. Please refer to Meetings Schedule for upcoming events.
Public Issues Group - this group which meets informally every month, aims to speak of behalf of the NZFGW Auckland branch as an effective advocate and voice for women on public issues.
The Auckland branch sends delegates to the national conferences and to the International Federation of University Women's conferences - forming valuable networks.
We also have links with NCW, UNIFEM, Pacific Graduate Women's network, and other womens groups, which broadens our circle and knowledge.
